As a mother of an active three-year-old, with one more on the way, I was interested in a convenient travel stroller for a toddler. The toddler travel stroller should be lightweight, easy to use and make travel by both airplanes and car easier. The Delta Clutch travel stroller seemed like the perfect toddler travel stroller since it had many of the features I was looking for.
A lightweight & compact travel stroller can make all the difference when traveling with a toddler! Toddlers don’t always want to be in the stroller. They like to walk and explore, but their little legs can get tired after a day of exploring. Having a stroller like the Delta Clutch made it easy to pack it away when we didn’t need it and have it available when we did.
Here’s my review of the Delta Clutch stroller for travel.

My First Experience with the Delta Clutch Travel Stroller
I first used the Delta Clutch stroller to travel by plane from Michigan to Nashville, TN. Flying with a stroller was a cinch with this compact, lightweight travel stroller. The stroller folded up very small and had a nice handle to hold it by, and a lock to keep it from unfolding.
I was able to easily gate check it on all my flights, which made traveling through the airport a breeze. I could quickly unfold it and place my toddler in it to navigate the airport.
I could have easily stored it in the overhead storage bin on the plane or even below the seat in front of you. I chose to gate check it as I had enough to carry on the plane, but with the compact size of the stroller folded, this a great option for parents!
Rental cars can also be an issue to fit suitcases and strollers in. The compact way that the stroller folds made it easily fit in either the trunk of the small car we were driving or even on the floor in front of my child’s car seat.
Flying with a stroller is a risky proposition – you don’t want to damage such expensive baby gear. Before you go, check out my tips for flying with a stroller.
Delta Clutch Travel Stroller Specs
Weight
The Delta Clutch travel stroller is light as a feather. This extremely lightweight stroller weighs only 11.7 lbs., making it easy to take on day trips or vacations. Being so lightweight, I think it makes the most sense to use it for toddlers who may want to walk more, but still have a place when their legs get tired.
Size
Given its size, the Delta Clutch stroller easily meets stringent Disney size requirements. Which is great, since it can be used for children up to 50 lbs., meaning even older children to take a break when needed.
The fully assembled dimensions of the Delta Clutch stroller for travel are: 29.5” L x 18.5” W x 39.8.1” H.
As for folding, this compact fold of the Delta Clutch results in folded dimensions of 15” L x 5.9” W x 19.7” H which easily meet most carry-on size restrictions. This folded stroller fits in overhead compartments on planes, on subways, in cars, and takes up little space in city apartments!
Safety
As for safety, this travel stroller features a 5 point safety harness to keep your toddler in the seat. The reflective shoulder pads ensure you and your child can be seen at night. In addition, it is JPMA certified and meets or exceeds and ASTM and applicable CPSC standards.
Other Features
Some additional features that the Delta Clutch has are spacious undercarriage storage for toddler travel essentials. The 5.5” wheels swivel and have with suspension for easy maneuverability and a smooth ride.
What I Loved About the Delta Clutch Stroller
I feel that the biggest positive this stroller has is the small compact size that it can fold into when transporting it. The folded dimensions are 15” L x 5.9” W x 19.7” H.
This makes it extremely easy to take almost anywhere. It can be folded to fit under an airplane seat, in overhead storage, in a small car or taxi, etc. The small folded size is the main feature that people will love about this stroller.
It’s also extremely lightweight at only 11.7 lbs. It was very easy for me to push and carry at 7 months pregnant.
The stroller has a sleek design and my toddler seemed to think it was very comfortable and her feet fit perfectly on the footrest area. She is of average height for a 3 ½ year old. She could easily climb in and out of the stroller independently.
What Could be Improved
This stroller requires some practice before taking it on a trip for the first time. Although it folds up very small, it definitely takes two hands, and a bit of elbow work to fold it up. Once folded, you need to adjust the wheels to make it fold properly, and push down on the entire stroller to adjust the locking mechanism.
I like that the stroller has locking wheels but they were a bit confusing to use. One lock needs to go up, and the other needs to go down in order to lock the wheels. This is just a “good to know”!
The Delta Clutch is pretty bare bones and could use a bit more storage. A pocket near the handles for parents would be ideal. These shortcomings can be rectified with the right stroller accessories for travel.
I was fully aware that this stroller does not recline, but it’s important to know that before purchasing. For many parents who want their child to nap on the go, is a big drawback. Now that my daughter no longer naps, it wasn’t an issue for me on this trip.
The Clutch Stroller by Delta Children does have a sun awning attached that can fold up or down, but I found that it does not block much shade at all, which would be a problem if you are traveling during the warmer months with a lot of sun exposure. You may need to consider purchasing a stroller shade cover.
The only issue I had (and it was small) is that the padded sleeve that went around the buckle to the 5 point safety harness was very ill fitting. Eventually, I just slipped it off and used the harness without it since it was difficult to latch together with it on, and constantly slipping off.
Delta Clutch vs. Summer 3Dlite Convenience Stroller
The Delta Clutch is one of the most compact travel strollers and is best suited to parents who want to travel as lightweight as possible.
You are going to have some trade-offs with this Delta stroller. You’ll have less features, like storage and a large sun canopy. Even to fold, there are two buttons to press and fold at the same time, in comparison to the Summer 3Dlite Convenience Stroller which only has a foot lever to push with your foot.
The Summer 3Dlite Convenience Stroller also has a small pocket near the handles to store tickets, your cellphone, etc., which the Clutch Stroller by Delta Children does not.
The small storage basket on the Clutch Stroller by Delta Children was also much smaller and very shallow compared to my Summer 3Dlite stroller.
For parents of babies or toddlers who need to nap on-the-go, a reclining seat is a must, which you won’t find here.
Delta Clutch Stroller Review – Final Thoughts
The Clutch Stroller by Delta Children is such a compact travel stroller. It’s important to note that in exchange for how lightweight it is and how compact it folds, you will be giving up other features.
While you won’t get a large sun canopy or extra storage pockets, you will get a stroller that you don’t have to gate check. It will fit right in the overhead compartment, which can be a lifesaver if you are landing at an airport where the stroller isn’t returned at the gate!
If you are getting a compact rental car, you also won’t have to worry about fitting this travel stroller in the trunk.
This travel stroller is best suited to parents who are looking for the most compact stroller. It’s best used with older toddlers and children that don’t need to nap and won’t spend the entire day in the stroller.
If you have a toddler who loves to be out walking, but you need a stroller for when those legs get tired then this stroller is for you. While I love my Summer 3Dlite Convenience Stroller, it would be much harder to carry it around while my toddler is running around.
With the Delta Clutch, I could pop it in a backpack and have hands free for chasing my toddler.
