My Surprising Experience With AG1: More Than Just A Greens Supplement

This post is in partnership with AG1 but all opinions and thoughts are my own.

I have a feeling I’m not alone when I confess that my husband struggles with getting the best nutrients, especially when he’s busy at work and traveling. A few years ago, I noticed he was experiencing low energy levels and irregular bowel movements and that’s when I decided to order AG1 for him. I thought it could be a convenient way to fill in any nutritional gaps. Little did I know that when the package arrived, I too would fall in love with it! After just a few weeks of trying AG1, we both felt energized and noticed improvements in our gut health.

This got me curious about what was going on behind the scenes. What was it about AG1 that made such a noticeable difference in how I felt in just a few months?! As someone with a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, I love a deep dive into the science of health and wellness, so let’s explore the potential reasons that could explain these effects.

A Quick Breakdown of What AG1 Offers

What drew me to AG1 from the start is that it’s more than just a “greens powder.” It’s a comprehensive nutritional supplement that combines a multivitamin, pre-& probiotic, and superfood blend into one scoop. AG1 contains:

Vitamins & minerals to support immune function, energy production, and brain health.

Probiotics & prebiotics for gut health, promoting healthy digestion and reducing bloating.

Adaptogens and antioxidants to help the body manage stress

Superfood extracts from fruits and vegetables for added nutrients and phytonutrients.

While AG1 aims to provide foundational nutrition, its key differentiating factor is its ability to support gut health and energy levels, which is where both my husband and I saw the most noticeable effects.

The Science Behind Gut Health With AG1

One of the reasons AG1 may have such an impact on gut health is the presence of probiotics, prebiotics, and digestive enzymes. What caught my eye in my research deep dive was a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial assessing 30 healthy adults ages 21-49 over the course of 1 month. In this study, AG1 was shown to enrich the gut microbiome, more than doubling the levels of healthy bacteria like Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobaccilus acidophilus, known to support digestion by helping the breakdown of food, reducing bloating and bolstering digestive regularity.

Moreover, in a single-arm observational study conducted on 35 healthy adults ages 25-48 assessing the self-perceived efficacy of AG1 over 3 months, researchers found that AG1 seemed to positively impact feelings of calm, energy and improved digestion.

And to add to the body of evidence supporting AG1’s benefits, the SHIME In Vitro Study, which simulates the human gastrointestinal system demonstrated that, in vitro, AG1 improved markers of gut health, including increasing levels of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) produced by beneficial gut microbes as well as serotonin production in the gut. These SCFAs can help nourish the cells lining the digestive tract, promoting a healthier gut barrier and improved nutrient absorption. Serotonin production in the gut may help relieve occasional constipation. A different in vitro study also found that the powder form of AG1 digested faster with a greater amount of minerals available for absorption compared to a traditional multivitamin in tablet form.

Energy Production: A Real Benefit?

The feeling of a boost in energy was one of the first things I noticed after starting AG1. This could be attributed to its balanced mix of vitamins and minerals that support energy metabolism. B-vitamins, for example, are crucial for converting the food we eat into usable energy. The probiotics in AG1 may also play a role by promoting a healthy gut environment, which is linked to improved nutrient absorption and overall energy levels. I was grateful for my energy levels in #mompreneur life! 🙂

What about those Adaptogens?!

One of the standout features of AG1 is the inclusion of adaptogens—natural substances that help the body adapt to stress and restore balance. Some of the adaptogens included in AG1 are ashwagandha and rhodiola, both of which are known for their ability to support stress resilience and mental well-being. Rhodiola is an adaptogen traditionally used to support mental clarity, making it especially useful for those dealing with daily stressors. The presence of these adaptogens may explain why, after a few weeks of use, I not only felt energized but also experienced a sense of calm and balance.

Quality Matters

I care deeply about what I put into my body and was reassured to learn that AG1 has gone through rigorous quality control processes, including testing for contaminants like heavy metals and pesticides. It’s even NSF Certified for Sport, meaning it meets high safety and quality standards. Knowing this added to my confidence in the product and its ingredients.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re someone like my husband who needs a convenient way to ensure you’re getting essential nutrients, or you’re like me and enjoy digging into the science behind the benefits, AG1 might be worth trying.
