In this review, I’ll share our recent experiences using the Nuby Easy Go Booster Seat for travel with a baby and toddler. I share what we loved about this travel booster seat and the situations where it didn’t work quite as well as we had hoped.
Having taken several holidays with our two-and-a-half-year-old son, I have built up a good collection of toddler travel gear. This year we went on holiday with our newest addition, our eight-month-old daughter. I realized we needed a few more essentials to enable a smooth holiday abroad. One such item was a travel high chair that would work for both a baby and toddler.

My two year old uses a booster seat at home as he isn’t always tall enough to reach the table. With our baby now eating solid foods, she needs a seat that gives lots of support as she is still not full stable sitting up.
While there are often high chairs available at cafes and hotels, they aren’t always age appropriate. My toddler is not a big fan of high chairs anymore, as he feels he is more grown up now. We also find that some of the high chairs aren’t supportive enough for our daughter. At home I use 2 different seats to meet their different needs, and neither are very portable for flights.
For our holidays I wanted a seat that was compact enough to fit in our luggage and travel stroller. Bringing it with us while sightseeing means we would have it on hand for times when we needed an extra boost for my son or a fully supportive option for my daughter.
I also wanted a portable high chair that is easy to wipe clean as we needed to be feeding our baby solid foods while we travel, and she is right at the messy weaning stage. Wipe clean was important since we didn’t have access to a washing machine.
Traveling with the Nuby Easy Go High Chair
I bought the Nuby Easy Go high chair booster seat for our holiday to Cyprus in June. This travel booster seat is suitable from 9 months to 3 years old (or to a maximum of 55 pounds), so it works as an option for both my baby and toddler. This was the flexibility I was looking for and that a lot of travel booster seats or travel high chairs do not provide.
Having looked at a variety of options, I liked that the Nuby has a secure fastening to keep my daughter secure, but also the look of a toddler booster seat for my son so it didn’t feel like a baby seat.
While a fabric high chair that attaches to the back of the seat would have been easier to pack, my toddler wouldn’t have liked it as it would be too restrictive. Not to mention how messy it might have been with our baby eating on her own.
As I didn’t know what size of chairs we would be using to attach the travel booster seat too, it also needed to be adjustable.

Nuby Easy Go Travel Booster Seat – Pros
Quick to Set-Up
The hotel restaurant had high chairs that we used. When we wanted to eat in our hotel room or on the balcony, the Nuby Easy Go high chair booster seat was invaluable to aid a quick lunch or dinner.
The Nuby portable booster seat is very quick to strap it onto any type of chair. You just clip the two straps together (one under the chair and one around the back) then adjust the strap’s length so it is secure on the chair.
I used the Nuby Easy Go booster chair on indoor and outdoor chairs of different sizes and the 2 straps were long enough to accommodate most chair types.
Great for Babies and Toddlers
The true test for me was whether the seat would be suitable for both my children.
For my eight-month-old daughter the 3 point harness meant it is secure enough to keep her sitting upright and prevent her wobbling forward and hitting her head on the table. The harness is easy to put in place allowing I or my partner to confidently secure her in the chair without the help of the other person.
Of course no travel high chair or travel booster seats are fully secure so you should make sure you are always in arms reach at all times.
However, the Nuby is secure enough that it allowed me to be hands free to prepare her food at the table and feed her. She was very happy and comfortable in the chair and at no point looked like she would topple out of it (despite her bending forward a lot during meal times to play with her feet which are still fascinating to her!).
With my 2-year-old son, I used it as a booster cushion providing additional height for him at the outside table which he could not quite reach comfortably. The cushion is made of high-density foam and is firm enough to provide support. The foam was comfortable for him to sit on, so he was happy to sit on it for the duration of a meal when needed.
He liked that it meant he could use the normal outdoor furniture rather than a high chair, and gave him the freedom to climb off and on the chair when he needed to.
Compact Size
The Nuby seat is light at just 1.6 lbs and compact, so it easily fit into our suitcase and the bottom of our travel stroller.
This was useful as I used it as a standby seat during the holiday when we went on day trips in case we needed it. As it did not take up a lot of space, it did not inconvenience me if I carried it around all day and did not end up using it.
As it takes up so little space, since returning from holiday I have started to keep it in my car just in case I am out and about I need it. I love that it still has use even when not on holiday.
The small mesh pocket on the back of the seat is great to keep a spare spoon and wet wipes handy both abroad and in my car, and it is a lot more compact that my normal at home seat options for both our baby and toddler.
Nuby Easy Go Booster Seat – Cons
Ability to Clean
Although the Nuby travel booster seat is made of water-resistant polyester, which can be wiped down with a wet cloth after meals, it is not as easy to clean as plastic seats.
All the comparable products below can be taken apart to get to the hard to reach places which often collect crumbs in corners or around the straps. The Nuby seat does not come apart so it makes it slightly less easy.
However, the water-resistant material made it easier to clean on holiday than a fabric option as we did not have access to a washing machine.
Suitability for Babies Eating Solid Foods
The 3-point harness meant my eight month old daughter was secure, however the Nuby chair was a messier option than using a seat with a tray on it such as the hiccapop Omniboost booster seat.
As there was no tray and she isn’t quite tall enough for some tables, I ended up mainly giving her food I could feed to her with a spoon rather than letting her use her hands to feed herself. It also meant there was more mess on the seat cushion after the meal as the tray usually catches a lot of the mess on the way down!
Nuby Compared to Other Travel Booster Seats
At home I have the Ingenuity SmartClean Toddler Booster Seat for my toddler. For my daughter, I use the Mamas and Papas Baby Bud 2-in-1 booster seat. While both of these work well at home and I can easily fit them in my car when traveling to family, neither is ideal for getting on a plane or international travel.
The Nuby Easy Go Booster Seat is best compared to other travel booster seats like the hiccapop OmniBoost Booster Seat and the Munchkin Brica Go Boost Toddler Booster Seat
Nuby Easy Go Booster Seat vs. the hiccapop OmniBoost Booster Seat
The hiccapop OmniBoost is the most highly rated travel booster seat for babies and toddlers. It can be attached to a chair like the Nuby Easy Go, but it can also be used as a standalone chair. It even comes with attachable duck feet to make it more stable on uneven surfaces.
While this stability helps with tipping, your baby can push away from the able using ANY travel high chair, so you should always be near your baby when using one.
The hiccapop OmniBoost can be used from 6 months to 3 years old, compared to the Nuby that can be used starting at 9 months old. The hiccapop also has a much higher max weight.
Two other benefits of the hiccapop OmniBoost vs. the Nuby Easy Go is that the hiccapop comes with a removable tray plus it can be folded into a carry bag making it more portable when traveling.
The Nuby is more affordable than the hiccapop, which can be a big consideration if you don’t know how much you’ll use it.
Otherwise, the hiccapop with it’s removable, machine-washable fabric, compact folded size, recommended age of 6 months+ and a lifetime guarantee make the hiccapop Omniboost a preferred option over the Nuby.
Travel Booster Seat | Weight (lbs) | Max Weight (lbs) | Size (inches) | Recommended Age | Price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Nuby Easy Go Booster Seat | 1.6 | 55 | 12.5 x 10.5 x 9 | 9 months + | Check Price |
hiccapop OmniBoost Booster Seat | 4 | 250 | 7 x 7 x 16 | 6 to 36 months | Check Price |
Nuby Easy Go Booster Seat vs. the Munchkin Brica Go Boost Booster Seat
Both the Nuby and the Munchkin are travel boosters that need to be attached to a chair at the table. The Nuby is filled with a removable high density foam where the Munchkin has a frame that creates a large pocket to carry diapers, wipes and even a change of clothes.
The Munchkin Brica toddler travel booster is recommended for toddlers 12 to 36 months and up to 50 lbs. By comparison, the Nuby Easy Go Booster can be used starting at 9 months old and up to a max weight of 55 lbs.
Both have a 3-point harness to secure your little on and no trays. While the lack of tray can be a pain for babies using the Nuby Easy Go at 9 months old, you could use a silicone place mat on the table to try to contain some of the mess.
Again, the Nuby is a less costly option compared to the Munchkin. Unless you are looking for an additional storage option, the Nuby is a better choice given the added months of use you can get, the cheaper price and the lighter weight.
Travel Booster Seat | Weight (lbs) | Max Weight (lbs) | Size (inches) | Recommended Age | Price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Nuby Easy Go Booster Seat | 1.6 | 55 | 12.5 x 10.5 x 9 | 9 months + | Check Price |
Munchkin Brica Booster Seat | 2.5 | 50 | 11.5 x 11.5 x 5.5 | 12 to 36 months | Check Price |
Nuby Travel Booster Seat Review – Final Thoughts
Overall, I think the Nuby travel booster seat is a very useful travel seat to have when on holiday if you have mixed age children and want a compact option for a baby or toddler. It’s especially good for toddlers 12 months to 18 years old, who don’t need the tray as much and can reach the table.
Based on our experience, I think it would get more use for toddlers from 9 to 18 months, as my toddler was happy to sit on it from time to time but generally preferred no seat at all. For younger toddlers, it is very useful to have as a fall back for when a high chair isn’t suitable or isn’t available.
I would probably not use it for every meal on holiday as I do prefer having a tray for my daughter to reach the food and reduce mess. I also prefer the sturdiness of a proper high chair, however for times when that isn’t an option the seat was a very good back up and felt safe and secure. A better option for a travel high chair with a tray would be the hiccapop OmniBoost travel booster seat.
