October is around the corner and fall vibes are everywhere lately. Every year in the month of October our family goes pumpkin picking near NYC and it continues to be one of our favorite fall festivities. We just love getting out of the city for the day to the country and indulging in fresh produce, yummy apple cider donuts, and petting all the farm animals. New York City is located near some of the best pumpkin patches and with Halloween season begun, we are ready for pumpkin month! These are some of the farms we’ve personally been to and more for all your pumpkin picking getaways.

This popular Long Island pumpkin destination has been a long-time local go-to for city families as its the closest farm to NYC on Long Island. All pumpkin grow on the farm, so experience pumpkin picking fresh off the vine. With no admissions fee and plenty of fun fall activities, this is definitely a farm to check out. Don’t forget to come back in the winter pick and cut down your own unique Christmas tree.

Located in NJ less than an hour from NYC this farm is all of our country dreams without the long commute. Rated as one of New Jerseys best family farms with activities for all ages. Enjoy the petting zoo, farm shop, crooked house village, and their very popular spooky hayride!

White Post Farms in Melville offers a really fun pumpkin-picking experience with a range of fun activities for families. You can choose from a wide variety of pumpkins, enjoy hayrides, explore a corn maze, and visit farm animals. The farm also features seasonal attractions like a haunted house and festive events, making it a perfect destination for fall fun with the kids.

Wightman Farm located in Morristown, NJ, is a cute pumpkin-picking experience with a picturesque farm setting. Everyone can choose from a variety of pumpkins, enjoy hayrides, and explore a seasonal corn maze. The farm also offers family-friendly activities like a petting zoo and play areas, making it an even better time to be had!

New Jersey truly has some of the best farms in the tri-state area and Alstede Farms is a great example. A family-run farm that grows just about it all. No matter the time of year this property and the Alstede family are nourishing the land that feeds them. The farm offers pumpkin picking, apple picking, corn mazes, a fully stocked farm store, homemade fudge and ice cream, local honey, farm animals, even a summer farm camp! Located in Chester New Jersey, the Alstede farm is definitely worth the 1 hour & 30-minute trip!

Harbes Family Farm is one of the very best options for a family fun-filled day. I can’t stop telling everyone how this needs to be on every New York family must do in the fall.  Its almost as if this land was designed for the fall season and fall family festivals. With a giant new playground, tons of farm animals for their petting zoo, jumbo jumpers, a gnome maze, a sports zone, a bunnyville, and SO much more, when I say they have it all I’m not joking. Even though its a 2 hour drive out east on the north tail of Long Island this farm is totally worth every mile. Its location in wine country also makes it perfect for a vineyard, which it is! Whether you take home pumpkins, gourds, apples, apple cider, or a bottle of wine, this farm is at the very top of my personal list of musts every fall season!

Located in the Hudson Valley is Wilkens Farm. This farm is a great Fall and holiday go to! There’s nothing quite the Hudson Valley this time of year. With pumpkins, apples, and Christmas trees all grown on their land, you’re bound to fill all your holiday needs. Wilkens also has vineyards for their winery! Like many farms and orchards, Wilkens Farms has a bakery and produce shop.  This farm is one of the closest to the city on our list making it a great option for a busier day.

Brightwaters Farm on Long Island gives off a super cute pumpkin-picking experience with a variety of pumpkins to choose from. The farm features a photo worthy setting, hayrides, and family-friendly activities, making it a perfect spot for enjoying autumn fun and creating seasonal memories.

Greg’s Pumpkin Patch in Yorktown Heights offers a friendly pumpkin-picking experience. You can go and pick from a range of pumpkins, enjoy all of the scenic farm views, and participate in seasonal activities like hayrides and corn mazes. It’s a great spot for a family-friendly fall outing this season.

This New Jersey farm is 40 minutes form midtown. No other farm beats that! Enjoy Secors hayrides, pumpkin patch, farm shop, petting zoo, and so much more. No need to pack a lunch, Secors every own Greenhouse Grill has got you covered for all your lunch needs.

This super cute family owned farm is located in Water Mill, NY. They’re open from 9:30am-6pm daily and have so many fun things for your family to enjoy! You can go to their pumpkin patch, pick apples, play in the Maze Park, go through the corn maze and peruse their market. With so many activities and such great food available, this is the perfect way to spend the day with your family!

If you’re out in the Hamptons and looking for a great pumpkin patch, look no further! Milk Pail is open and ready for the season! They’re open Friday-Sunday from 10am-5:30pm and have a great selection. With over 60 different varieties, how could you not find the perfect pumpkin?!

This you-pick farm has the cutest selection of pumpkins! They are a farmers market that has a toyland, hayride and cornmaze. Come spend hours of endless fun with your family and bring home the perfect pumpkins to carve for Halloween!

Every weekend from 10am-6pm, Fairview Farm at Mecox opens their farm up to everyone to pick out pumpkins and so much more! They have a really a really cool 8 acre corn maze that gets a new design and theme every year and they make every pie flavor known to man! Located in Bridgehampton, this is a great spot to check out!

Initially an apple picking favorite, they have now added pumpkins and gourds to their fall festivities. Because of its vast orchards, this is a great one-stop-shop farm for both apple and pumpkin picking until November 1st. Family fun also includes a hayride, corn maze, and more. Easily accessible on the metro north to Croton Falls Station. Picking your own pumpkins here and ending the day with hay rides with the whole family is one of the best places to have fall fun in early and late October.

Harvest Moon was the farm you all responded the most about. Located just north of NYC in North Salem, this family owned farm offers Fall festivals every weekend of September and October. Festival activities include hayrides, apple cannons, bouncy castles, pony rides, face painting, and so much more. Don’t worry about bringing your own lunch! Harvest Moon has bbq food, brick oven pizza, apple cider donuts, and kettle corn just to name a few. For those traveling by train take the Metro North line from Grand Central Station to Croton Falls.

Another super close spot to the city, Randall’s Island Urban Farm is an option for a unique pumpkin-picking experience with amazing views of the city’s skyline. You can choose from a large variety of pumpkins and enjoy the farm’s urban setting, along with family-friendly activities and seasonal events. We love how close it is and always find great pumpkins there!
