A Minecraft Movie put the block in blockbuster! Warner Bros.’ family-friendly romp quickly became a top-grossing film, thanks to its silly hijinks inspired by the beloved video game. Soon, kids can enjoy the action-packed adventure from the comfort of home.
The movie will stream online as early as May 13, but the physical version is worth the wait. A Minecraft Movie’s DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD editions include lots of special features, giving kids a sneak peek behind the scenes. Among them are “Building the World of Minecraft: Block Party,” which explores the making of the film; “Pixel Pals”, which delves into Jack Black and Jason Momoa’s real-life friendship; and “Marlene + Nitwit,” a hilarious narration of the characters’ journey led by Matt Berry and Jennifer Coolidge. Families can add a copy to their biome on June 24.
In the film, four misfits stumble across a mysterious portal to the Overworld, a bizarre, cubic wonderland pulled straight from the game. To get back home, the friends embark on a quest with expert crafter Steve to master the world and battle its fearsome foes, each rediscovering their unique creativity along the way.
Families can stream A Minecraft Movie digitally on May 13 on Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, and Fandango at Home. Blu-rays and DVDs of the film will launch June 24, but are available to preorder now at the links below!
